Major changes for Slovakia’s Satro

June 29, 2017 09.03 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Slovak cable operator Satro will make a number of important changes to its programme offer on July 1.

In a statement, it says it is necessary to provide its customers with an explanation for the changes, which are a response to “new, altered and external circumstances in the TV market”.

Satro adds that last autumn most cable operators unilaterally terminated contracts with the commercial broadcasters Markiza and Joj. At the beginning of negotiations, the latter introduced new prices several times higher than those in the earlier contracts. “After long and difficult negotiations, we have recently reached a compromise deal. However, the cost of these programmes still exceeds several times the previous price level. Unfortunately, these increased costs have a direct impact on end-user price”.

The changes Satro will implement on July 1 include reducing the price of the Mini package and introducing two new packages named Mini SK and Mini CZ, offering popular Slovak and Czech channels respectively.

Meanwhile, the cost of Satro’s Klasic package will remain unchanged at €7 a month. The package will also include the film chanenl Joj Cinema in its offer.

Significantly, the company also says that SATROdigital customers are guaranteed the current prices they pay during the length of their contracts.

They can also withdraw from their contacts if they notify the company by August 7.
