AMC inks major Vipnet deal

June 29, 2017 09.32 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

AMC Networks International – Central & Northern Europe has signed a landmark agreement with Telekom Austria Group for the distribution of the AMC channel on Croatia’s Vipnet.

As a result, AMC has been made available in Vipnet’s basic channel package from June 29.

The new launch, which is part of AMC’s continued expansion in the Adriatic region, follows last year’s agreements with United Group to bring AMC to new subscribers in Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia.

Commenting on the new agreement, SVP of AMC Networks International – Central & Northern Europe, Levente B. Málnay said: “We have a clear focus on the Adriatic region where Vipnet, a member of the Telekom Austria Group, is a key partner. We are delighted to bring AMC’s distinctive original programming, including the upcoming season two debut of Preacher and world premiere episodes of the new season of Fear the Walking Dead to Vipnet subscribers later this year. This new launch highlights the growing demand for AMC in the region, and we will continue our mission to bring premium original drama series to viewers at the same time or within days of the US premieres.”

AMC has launched in Croatia with the exclusive premiere of season two of Preacher on June 29, just four days after the US premiere.

Vipnet subscribers will also see the world premiere episodes of season three of Fear the Walking Dead.

Nikola Francetic, head of Telekom Austria Group Media, Content and Broadcasting, added: “We are always looking to enhance content offering across the entire Telekom Austria Group footprint. Adding AMC’s original shows is in line with our priority to provide Vipnet’s customers with the most compelling content and to continue providing a first-rate pay-TV experience”.
