The Russian regulator Roskomnadzor has temporarily blocked access to Google.
Local reports say the search engine could not be accessed in the country for around three hours on Thursday afternoon, June 22.
They add that it found itself on the blacklist for redirecting users to the site of a Russian bookmaker that is involved in a tax dispute with the authorities.
Access to Google was restored as soon as the link to the bookmaker was withdrawn.
One source notes that Russian ISPs are expected to download a database of prohibited websites twice a day, at 09.00 and 21.00, and then ensure they are blocked.
