Quintuple packages are becoming increasing popular in Spain, with households on average paying almost €90 a month in 2016 to receive one.
This, says the regulator CNMC, was 8% more than a year earlier.
By way of contrast, households opting for quadruple packages paid only €65.7 a month, barely 1% more than in 2015.
As of the end of 2016 over one in four (27%) households received quintuple packages, while over half (52%) opted for quadruple packages excluding pay-TV.
The number of homes that chose only telephony services continued to fall and stood at 13% as of the end of 2016.
Significantly, three out of 10 households subscribed to pay-TV services, with over half indicating that they did so as they were offered with other telecom services.
Around a third said they wre interested in channels offering series (34%) or sports content (32%), with documentary channels favoured by one in four (25%).
A quarter (25%) also expressed a desire to see fewer commercials.
