Two of Estonia’s leading media companies have given their reaction to the news that the two main commercial TV stations – Channel 2 and TV3 – will no longer be available as FTA DTT services from August 1.
For Levira, which is one of the main broadcasting centers in the north of Europe and the main TV and radio broadcast network operator in Estonia, the move will allow it to offer its services to new TV market entrants.
A similar situation for such entrants in neighbouring Finland a few years ago.
However, despite providing high-quality TV and radio broadcasting, Levira’s focus these days is on developing network and cloud services and other IT solutions.
Meanwhile, Starman, Estonia’s largest cable operator, has assured subscribers that Channel 2 and TV3 will continue to be offered in its programme packages.
