DMC has launched Europe’s first full virtualised IP playout platform.
The fully virtualised ‘private broadcast cloud’ gives broadcasters access to 700 million European viewers from DMC’s Amsterdam facility. The platform, which currently hosts 30 channels will increase to 80 this September when the remaining channels from DMC’s former facility transfer across.
The DMC platform uses technologies from firms including Cisco, Equinix, Pebble Beach Systems, Red Hat, Super Micro and VMware.
Raymond Lamphen, general manager, DMC said: “The success of this launch is a testament to the vision, skill and endeavour of our entire team and the support and trust of our customers, who have embraced the opportunity to move towards a fully virtualised approach to media management and playout.”
The move to an all IP platform enables DMC to commission new channels in hours rather than weeks. It allows broadcasters to quickly introduce pop up channels for market testing and companion channels for special events.
