Discovery Networks Deutschland has won the first distribution partner for the football Bundesliga rights package the broadcaster holds from the upcoming Bundesliga season in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Swiss pay-TV platform operator Teleclub will show the live games exclusively in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The coverage will be broadcast via Eurosport on Teleclub Sport.
The pay-TV rights package acquired by Discovery in June 2016 comprises the Bundesliga games on Friday night, Sunday afternoon and Monday night as well as relegation matches and the Supercup.
Discovery and Eurosport also extended their long-term partnership for carriage of Discovery’s channels on the Teleclub platform.
In Germany, however, Discovery has so far not managed to find a distribution partner. Currently, it is only certain that the Bundesliga games will be shown on its subscription-based OTT service Eurosport Player.
