Ofcom and the Competition and Markets Authority have sent the Government reports into the proposed acquisition of Sky by 21st Century Fox.
The reports into public interest issues surrounding the acquisition and a separate fit and proper person assessment carried out by Ofcom under the Broadcasting Act were delayed by the General Election.
In March, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport issued a European intervention notice over Fox’s £11.7 billion offer for Sky that runs pay-TV platforms in the UK & Ireland, Germany & Austria and Italy.
Karen Bradley now has until June 29 to decide whether to refer the proposed deal to the Competition & Markets Authority for a ‘Phase Two’ inquiry and a fuller investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority. Only then will Ofcom’s reports be made public.
