A French language version of the TV channel RT (Russia Today) will make its debut this December.
Quoting Radio Classique, Satellifax reports that it will have an annual budget of €20 million and 100 employees, half of which will be French-language journalists.
It adds that the channel will be available free of charge via operators’ set-top boxes.
RT France, which currently operates a site and has a budget of around €1 million, will move to new premises in Boulogne-Billancourt equipped with two studios.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, plans by RT to launch a French language version of the TV channel first came to light in August 2014.
However, they were subsequently put on hold due to lack of funding.
