Sven Sauvé appointed CEO of RTL Nederland

June 9, 2017 10.14 Europe/London By Robert Briel

RTL Group today has appointed Sven Sauvé (43) as new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RTL Nederland, effective 1 July 2017.

Sauvé, currently Chief Operating Officer (COO) of RTL Nederland, will succeed Bert Habets who has been Co-CEO of RTL Group since 19 April 2017.

Bert Habets said: “I am delighted that we have found, in Sven Sauvé, an experienced and dynamic executive from within our Group to lead RTL Nederland into its next phase. Sven combines business acumen, leadership skills and a distinct sense for future developments. He is deeply familiar with RTL Nederland and the Dutch media landscape and has been a key force in defining and implementing RTL Nederland’s consumer-focused strategy of delivering first-class local content across all linear and non-linear platforms. I am very much looking forward to continuing our close and trustful collaboration in a new constellation and wish him lots of success in his new role.”

As CEO, Sven Sauvé will chair RTL Nederland’s Executive Management team, currently consisting of Vivienne de Leeuw (Chief Financial Officer), Matthias Scholten (Chief Content Officer), Ton Rozestraten (Chief Commercial Officer) and Giovanni Piccirilli (Chief Technology Officer). In his new role, Sven Sauvé will report to Bert Habets, Co-CEO of RTL Group. Over the coming months, Bert Habets and Sven Sauvé will work closely together to ensure a seamless management transition.

Sven Sauvé joined RTL Nederland in January 2007 as Business Director of RTL Nederland Productions, building up the company’s newly launched in-house production unit. From March 2009 to September 2012, he was Business Director TV at RTL Nederland, being responsible for all business, HR and legal affairs of the unit’s linear free-to-air TV channels. Since September 2012, Sven Sauvé has been COO of RTL Nederland, being in charge of the financial management, content acquisition and operational processes for all linear TV channels and non-linear video platforms of RTL Nederland. In this position, he has also been the Managing Director of RTL Nederland’s subscription on-demand platform Videoland.

Before joining RTL Nederland, Sven Sauvé held executive positions at the production companies Endemol Nederland (2002 to 2005) and Eyeworks Holding (2005 to 2007).
