Apple’s first foray into TV production has made its debut. Planet of the Apps is best described as a hi-tech version of the format developed in Japan by Nippon TV and known in the UK and other markets as Dragon’s Den.
In the case of Apple, it’s app makers who are pitching their product to a panel that includes Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Will.i.am.
The successful candidates will see their projects funded by venture capitalists Lightspeed.
The first episode is being distributed free via iTunes. The remaining nine in the series will be available to Apple Music subscribers.
Also in development by Apple are Carpool Karaoke and Vital starring Dr Dre.
