Insight TV to join German Freenet TV Connect

June 5, 2017 22.25 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Insight TV, the international adventure travel and extreme sports channel, will become available on Freenet TV Connect, the HbbTV-based streaming service accompanying German DVB-T2 platform Freenet TV.

The distribution deal has now been signed with German DTT transmitter network operator Media Broadcast, the operator of Freenet TV. DVB-T2 households with reception devices compliant with Freenet TV Connect and hooked up to the internet will able to watch the HD version of the channel.

The around 20 Freenet TV Connect channels appear in the channel listing along with the around 40 DVB-T2 channels. The OTT add-on service includes, for example, Spiegel TV, CNN, France 24 and Euronews.

“We have seen a major launch of our new Freenet TV Connect service within the Freenet TV platform, which is reaching over a million households. Working with high-quality content creators like Insight TV means that we can provide viewers with the best content available for all demographics,” said Sven Eckoldt, Product Manager at Media Broadcast.

Graeme Stanley, Commercial Director of Insight TV, added: “Insight TV is a major player in the HD and 4K Ultra HD market and the success that we have demonstrated in the past twelve months is testament to that. We are delighted to be included as part of Media Broadcast’s new HbbTV offering and look forward to making further distribution announcements in the coming weeks.”

In Germany, Insight TV is also available on HD+, the HDTV subscription platform operated by Astra parent company SES for DTH satellite households.
