Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media (SEM) has begun the process for electing a new DG for the public broadcaster BNT.
Capital reports that candidates can submit their documents up until June 30, with an election being held on August 2.
There has been a one-year delay in the process as on the eve of the competition in 2016 parliament changed the Radio and Television Act, allowing for an indefinite extension of the current DGs and management boards of BNT and its radio counterpart.
As a result, BNT’s DG Viara Ankova was allowed to stay in post for another year.
