Arris and Teleste to Stofa transformation project

May 30, 2017 14.20 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Arris and Teleste are to lead a gigabit transformation project for the Danish cablenet Stofa.

When complete, the project will enable Stofa to deliver high-speed internet at speeds of 1 Gbps to its cable network customers.

Arris is delivering a new headend-to-home network solution to increase network capacity, achieve operational efficiencies, and deliver faster speeds and next-generation services to subscribers.

The deployment will include the latest generation of the Arris E6000 Converged Edge Router and the ARRIS NC2000 nodes with RemotePHY (R-PHY) module to support DOCSIS 3.1.

Performance Management and Alarm Central from ARRIS’s ServAssure suite, will enable Stofa to monitor the health of its network in real-time, optimise performance, and quickly resolve outages and prevent them from happening in the first place.

Teleste’s deliveries for the project will include the company’s next generation intelligent amplifiers and RF passives. To ensure fast and consistent upgrade of the networks, Teleste will also provide Stofa with detailed planning services. Combining service expertise to high-end products ensures that Stofa’s customers will be able to enjoy the full advantage of the increased network capacity and speed.

The new network has been designed with a R-PHY- based distributed architecture that provides a greater network capacity while reducing network complexity

The value of the agreement is expected to exceed €7 million for Teleste alone.

“The typical Stofa customer will have regular TV product, plus a Smart TV, a web TV solution and a 50 Mbps product,” Ole Fruekilde, CEO of Stofa told Broadband TV News. “The number of streams growing and that requires a stable infrastructure.”

Stofa is the number two operator in a competitive market – the leader is TDC/YouSee – and the deployment will enable it to provide synchronous broadband speeds at both lower and higher rates.
