The proposed takeover of the Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska by Liberty Global’s UPC Polska is putting pressure on its performance in the market, according to Andrzej Rogowski, the company’s chairman of the board.
This is reflected in its Q1 results, which saw revenues of PLN172.9 million (€41.3 milion) that were 1.1% lower than in the corresponding period last year.
However, TV revenues, which accounted for just over half (52.8%) of the total, were up, also by 1.1%.
EBITDA was down from PLN89 million to PLN88.2 million, though 6% higher in Q1 than in Q4 2016, while net profit amounted to PLN7 million.
The operator had 1.7 million RGUs at the end of Q1, or 2.5% more than a year earlier, with growth being primarily driven by TV and broadband.
ARPU stood at PLN68.8, up from PLN67.8 in Q1 2016.
Multimedia Polska invested PLN44.7 million in Q1, with PLN35.6 million allocated to the building, modernisation and upkeep of its own networks.
