The advertising revenues for TV, radio, video and audio offerings in Germany are expected to grow to around €6 billion this year (2016: €5.7 billion).
The forecast is made by VPRT, the German association of commercial broadcasters and audiovisual services, in its spring advertising update.
Net advertising revenues in the television sector, the largest market segment, are expected increase by 2 to 2.5% to around €4.7 billion in 2017. Added to this are the net advertising revenues generated by in-stream video advertising. In this segment, a growth of 20 to 25% is forecast to around €0.5 billion. In total, an additional €200 million will be invested in TV and video advertising this year compared with 2016.
Net advertising revenues in the radio sector are expected to rise by 1.5 to 2.0% to around €780 million in 2017. VPRT also forecasts a 25 to 30% growth in net advertising revenues for in-stream audio advertising to between €26 million and €27 million in 2017. Thus, a total of around €19 million will be invested additionally in radio and audio advertising this year compared with 2016.
In its trend forecast for the development of the advertising market over the next five years, VPRT anticipates a further rise in the demand for audiovisual media content as well as for advertising opportunities.
