RTL Nederland has appointed Giovanni Piccirilli in the newly created position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Piccirilli has been working at several companies, including Siemens, Liberty Global and UPC Nederland / Ziggo. He was responsible for the restructuring and innovation of the tech organisation at Liberty Global and UPC Nederland / Ziggo, and played a key role in the development of the Horizon home gateway and Horizon Go app. In 2015, he founded his own company, Pepper Technology, where he worked as a consultant in the tech domain with clients including Accenture.
Bert Habets, CEO of RTL Nederland: “Giovanni’s international career has given him experience in both the B2B and B2C markets, working with both market leaders and challengers. That’s exactly the kind of contribution that will make him such an asset to RTL and he will be an essential addition to our executive team. I am convinced that with his knowledge of innovation and infectious enthusiasm, Giovanni will ensure that Tech at RTL becomes an integral part of our current and future activities, rather than a separate division. In this competitive and fast-moving sector with so many new and international players, Tech will play an indispensable role in our future success.”
Giovanni Piccirilli: “It’s a great honour for me to take on the role of CTO at RTL Nederland. RTL’s leadership ambitions for the digital sector, where consumers are driving content consumption, are a great inspiration for me, precisely because Technology plays a key role in this sector. So I’m delighted to be joining the team that will lead RTL to the next level.”
Under the leadership of CEO Bert Habets, Piccirilli joins RTL Nederland’s management team consisting of Chief Financial Officer Vivienne de Leeuw, Chief Operations Officer Sven Sauvé, Chief Content Officer Matthias Scholten and Chief Commercial Officer Ton Rozestraten. In the coming months, a further executive appointment will be announced in the B2C domain and the successor to CEO Bert Habets will also be announced. Habets was recently appointed as the new co-CEO of RTL Group
