Telefónica saw its pay-TV subscriber total in its home market Spain fall by 3% in the year to March 31, when it stood at 3,615,000.
However, in its latest set of results the company points out that while this was due to the loss of satellite customers, the quarterly loss of 41,000 was sequentially reduced due to higher IPTV net additions.
Meanwhile, Movistar Fusión accesses grew by 4% year-on-year and accounted for 84% of the broadband base.
Among 4,379,000 Movistar Fusión customers as of the end of Q1, almost 68% received IPTV or satellite TV service, with the latter number (2,970,900) being 7.3% higher than a year earlier.
Telefónica group as a whole had revenues of €13,132 million in Q1, a 5% increase on the previous year.
Underlying OIBDA was €4,109 million (+6.5%) and net profit €779 million (+42.2%).
