Swiss cable operator group Quickline has launched an IPTV and OTT platform using CDN solutions from French digital video service provider Broadpeak.
The multiscreen platform containing over 400 channels of live and on-demand content, including cloud PVR, uses Broadpeak’s BkS300, BkS400 and BkS100 video servers, BkM100 CDN manager and BkA100 video delivery analytics system.
Broadpeak’s servers support all popular video formats including Apple HLS, Microsoft Smooth Streaming, Adobe HDS and MPEG-DASH, leveraging HTTP adaptive bit rate technology.
“Being involved in the OTT world gives Quickline a competitive edge in the pay-TV marketplace,” said Jacques Le Mancq, CEO of Broadpeak. “By supporting live and on-demand content, including cloud PVR, Broadpeak’s CDN and server solutions will enable rapid monetisation for Quickline while maintaining an exceptional quality of experience for end-users on whichever screen they choose to use.”
The Quickline group comprises 25 independent Swiss cable operators providing services to around 400,000 households. The multimedia products internet, digital TV/radio, fixed-line and mobile telephony are marketed jointly under the Quickline brand.
The Quickline network is the third-largest TV provider and the fourth-largest internet and telephone service provider in Switzerland.
