Green light for new German OTT sports channels

May 10, 2017 12.25 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German anti-media concentration commission KEK has granted the green light to two new OTT channels for sports fans.

Sportstadt.tv wants to report about types of sports not usually covered by mainstream TV broadcasters. The channel will be offered as a live-stream at www.sportstadt.tv and mainly target people from the Düsseldorf region.

The operating company is Rhein-Live.tv in which its managing directors Martin Keßel and Bastian Kraft hold 50% of the shares each.

German Football Fernsehen (GFL TV) focuses on the German Football League (GFL), the first-division Bundesliga league of American Football in Germany.

The channel offered as a live-stream at www.gfl-tv.de is operated by German Football Partners-American Football Verband Deutschland Rechteverwertungs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft in which AFVD American Football Verband Deutschland holds 49.3% and its president Robert Huber 50.7% of the shares.

AFVD is the umbrella organisation for American Football and Cheerleading in Germany.
