TVPlayer and RCA sign with Roku

TVPlayer is now available on Roku streaming players in the UK, making live TV accessible from all major broadcasters for the first time to Roku users.

Owners of a Roku streaming player can now view an even greater variety of content including catch up, on-demand and, as of today, live TV.

TVPlayer includes content from major broadcasters, such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Dave to name a few, and can be added from the Movies & TV category in the Roku Channel Store starting today.

T“Roku users in the UK could already choose from an impressive line-up of 2,500+ streaming channels, including popular on demand and catch-up channels. With the addition of TVPlayer Roku users can now also watch live TV from major UK broadcasters on their Roku streaming player, combining all key entertainment sources on one device,” said Ed Lee, VP Content Acquisition at Roku.

“We are very excited to be launching on Roku streaming players in the UK,” said Frank Bowe, COO of TVPlayer. “Our presence on the Roku platform represents another significant step forward in TVPlayer’s distribution strategy, which is to make premium live TV, on demand and digital shows available within the TVPlayer app across all OTT platforms.”

In a related development, Roku and the RCA brand, have announced that RCA is the latest brand to join the Roku TV licensing program. The RCA brand TVs will leverage the Roku TV platform to build and deliver smart TVs that run the Roku OS in the U.S. and Canada. The RCA Roku TVs will be available in the coming months, providing consumers with a smart TV including access to 5,000 channels and 450,000 movies and TV episodes.
