Romania’s National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) is investigating a number of officials from RCS&RDS (Digi).
According to Business Review, the probe relates to the broadcasting rights for Romania’s premier football league for the seasons 2008-2101, with Dumitru Dragomir, the former head of the Professional Football League (FRF), accused of taking bribes and money laundering.
Ioan Bendei, RCS&RDS’s former administrator; Alexandr Oprea, the company’s former general manager and president of the administration board; and Mihai Dinei, its former head of legal operation, are among those also facing charges.
RCS&RDS was part of a consortium that paid €101 million for the rights.
Broadband TV News notes that the investigation has come at an inopportune time for RCS&RDS, with its parent company Digi Communications currently undertaking a listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
