Mediapro Group has been awarded the contract for the satellite distribution in HD of EbS and EbS+, the two Europe by Satellite TV channels produced by the European Commission.
According to a statement by Mediapro, Overon, one of the companies in the group which is a leader in satellite broadcasting services, designed and developed the proposal, which consists of the distribution of two television signals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year throughout Europe and North Africa via a Eutelsat satellite. The service includes transporting the signal of both TV broadcasts as well as the uplink and managing the satellite segment.
Mediapro adds that this is a benchmark service within the transmission sector in Europe.
Mediapro also says that Imagina EU, the company’s Brussels-based branch, will be responsible for on-site maintenance and assistance for the two channels at the EbS headquarters in the Belgian capital. The contract is valid for four years.
Europe by Satellite is the EC’s information service. Its main objective is to distribute live and unedited daily TV news via satellite regarding the activities of the EU and its bodies to the media via its two channels.
Both are available via satellite, as well as online from the EbS website http://ec.europa.eu/avservices/ebs and are distributed in 25 languages simultaneously.
