German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has acquired 100% of the shares in Swiss video-on-demand (VOD) provider Homedia.
Financial details were not disclosed. Homedia offers a streaming video service with more than 10,000 movies and series under the brand HollyStar. The company also operates as a VOD service provider for partners such as Sunrise, Quickline, Samsung, Ex Libris, Sony and LG.
“With the takeover of Homedia, we expand our presence in Switzerland, exploit additional attractive potentials in a very promising market and thereby open another growth chapter in the German-speaking market,” said Holger Enßlin, managing director legal, regulatory and distribution at Sky Deutschland.
