Despite strong competition from Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, German media company ProSiebenSat.1 wants to stick with its streaming video service maxdome.
“I am still certain that maxdome has a chance as the number 3 in the German video-on-demand business,” ProSiebenSat.1 CEO Thomas Ebeling told German business newspaper Handelsblatt.
Maxdome is still in the red, though. “As long as I see tactical synergies and the losses are manageable, we’ll keep it. At the end of the year, we expect maxdome to be profitable,” said Ebeling.
He added, however, that the strategic decision to continue operating maxdome was reviewed each year.
