Romania’s RCS&RDS (Digi) is set to be fined due to a dispute with the incumbent Telekom Romania.
However, reports ZF, the size of the potential fine is itself disputed.
RCS&RDS, which is preparing for a listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, has informed its shareholders that following an earlier dispute with the telco the size of the fine, imposed by the regulator ANCOM, is likely to be up to 5% of its turnover, or over RON100 million (€21.9 million).
However, ANCOM, confirming that it will punish RCS&RDS, says the amount could be up to RON30,000 a day.
The dispute relates to the terms of an interconnection agreement, the terms of which were established by ANCOM and subsequently challenged unsucessfully in the courts by RCS&RDS.
RCS&RDS says that no agreement was signed.
