Russian leading pay-TV operator Tricolor TV had revenues of R4.4 billion (€72.6 million) including VAT in the first quarter, an 11% increase of the same period in 2016.
Over the past two years, its revenues have increased by over 60%.
As of the end of March, Tricolor TV had an active subscriber base of 12.15 million households, of which 8.7 million (71.6%) received HD services.
Tricolor TV says it is the only multi-standard platform in Russia that successfully develops HD and Ultra HD formats, including HEVC/H.265.
Since the introduction of broadcasting in the new format in the summer of 2016, viewing of TV channels in HEVC has already been available to 1.77 million subscribers.
In Q1 2017 alone, the number of HEVC subscribers increased by 21%.
Meanwhile, the number of Tricolor TV subscribers watching its services on several screens increased by 3.7% in the first quarter.
Take-up of the Kinozal Tricolor TV service, upgraded in the fourth quarter of 2016, grew by 27% to reach 1.74 million in Q1 this year.
As of Q1 2017, Tricolor TV offered viewers a total of 298 TV channels, of which 48 were in HD and four in Ultra HD, along with 40 radio stations.
