MTG President Jørgen Madsen Lindemann says the broadcaster’s Viaplay Originals are performing two to three times better than similar acquired content.
“We’re seeing that the Viaplay Originals which we have produced meaning the Black Widows, the Swedish Dicks and also Veni are gaining very strong traction and that has an impact on the net intake of customers and on the churn levels that are at a record low in this quarter,” Lindemann told an investor call on the company’s Q1 financials.
Operating profits were up 15% to SEK 183 million (€19.1 million), driven by higher profits for both the Nordic and International entertainment businesses.
Lindemann is also preparing for the upcoming Champions League auction. He said that as always he was analysing what the product was worth before entering the auction. “We’ve had the Champions League for 25 years now and have invested a lot into the product so we do hope well be able to continue to show Champions League once the auction is over.”
The decline of DTH continues, though not as noticeable as in previous quarters, and with increased ARPU.
