ABOX42 launches new STB platforms for US market

April 20, 2017 15.57 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German set-top-box and smart home solutions supplier ABOX42 has launched fully configured and certified set-top-box (STB) platforms for the US market.

The product portfolio comprises the latest HD and Ultra HD (UHD) set-top-boxes engineered in Germany, utilising technologies and patents from US industry leaders.

The ABOX42 M30 STB platform contains Broadcom’s BCM7250 HD chipset while the company’s newest high-end M50 STB platform comprises Broadcom’s UHD BCM7252S chipset. Both models support operator-grade Linux and are suited for operator-grade Android TV.

ABOX42 provides an all-in-one solution for operators to manage the boxes. The integrated software stack has capabilities for a multi-application environment including major OTT services, a browser and a media player supporting all relevant formats.

The lifecycle management solution allows operators to upgrade their TV services throughout the entire product lifecycle.

At the NAB trade fair in Las Vegas at stand #SU9821 in the South Upper Hall, ABOX42 will show its STB platforms as well as its newly developed smart home and smart living solution designed for operators wanting to move into the smart home space with a fully managed solution.
