Update to Roku TV OS

April 12, 2017 10.14 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Roku TV owners in the United States will also benefit from Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) technology known as More Ways to Watch. Additional methods of watching the show, such as starting from the beginning or additional episodes, will then be proposed.

More Ways to Watch will be available for 4K Roku TV models this Summer.

It’s one of a number of enhancements being introduced as part of an update to the Roku operating system in the next few weeks.

There’s an update to the Live TV Pause feature that now displays thumbnail images while pausing, rewinding, or fast forwarding. The idea is to help identify the moment in the stream where you want to resume viewing.

Favourite channel lists can now be created when users have a broadcast antenna connected to the Roku.

The device will also come out of standby quicker.

The upgrade is expected to be completed before June.

Roku OS 7.6 will be downloaded to all models deployed after May 2011.
