Norwegian households are watching an average of two and a half hours TV content everyday.
A survey of viewing habits by Ipsos MMI on behalf of Canal Digital Kabel and Telenor found traditional TV viewing ahead of mobile and tablet with Norwegian content the most popular.
“Despite the fact that we live in a network with several possible screens to watch, the television format is alive and kicking almost regardless of what kind of content we see when you look and whether it’s on-demand or direct, says Birgit Bjørnsen, head of TV and broadband in Telenor Norway.
Across all genres, the TV screen remains the preferred platform. Over eight in ten viewers (84 per cent) prefer film on the big screen, while the corresponding figure for sports is 69 percent. A majority of respondents (38 per cent) preferred to view YouTube clips on the PC or Mac.
70 per cent say they are interested in watching sports on TV with winter sports the most popular. Handball comes second. Over half (54 per cent) of the male population enjoy watching football
Survey respondents said that Norwegian-produced Nobel and Frikjent were the television series people were most interested in. US series Game of Thrones and Gray’s Anatomy followed close behind.
