Israeli media group Keshet has acquired German production company Tresor TV as it expands its production footprint in Europe.
Tresor TV, founded in 1992, is an independent production house specialising in reality programming, factual entertainment and variety shows. The Munich-based company has created local versions of popular formats such as Top Model, Popstars, Supernanny, Survivor, DIY SOS and most recently Eternal Glory which has just aired its second season on VOX.
The acquisition of which financial details were not disclosed will take place through Keshet International, Keshet Media Group’s global distribution and production arm. Following the takeover, Keshet International wants to develop a strategy to accelerate Tresor TV’s growth and support its next phase of expansion.
The deal is the latest step in a stream of wider global expansion and content diversification for Keshet International following its recently announced move into kids’ content distribution with Ananay Communications Group. Earlier this year, the company opened a Mexican subsidiary, Keshet MX, joining Hong Kong-based Keshet Asia which opened in October 2015 and its Los Angeles and London operations, Keshet Studios and Keshet UK.
Tresor TV is headed by managing director Axel Kühn who will continue in his role, reporting to Keshet International’s managing director for UK and West Europe, Sammy Nourmand. Tresor TV’s present owner, Holger Roost Macias, has opted to exit the production business to pursue new challenges.
