Philip Davies and Mark Mulready have been elected to the roles of VP of the Audiovisual Anti-Piracy Alliance (AAPA), effective April 1.
Davies is currently head of content protection and cybersecurity, Sky, while Mulready is senior director cybersecurity and anti-piracy, Irdeto.
They succeed Michael Barley of Sky and Christine Maury-Panis from Viaccess-Orca, who have held the positions since AAPA was established as the successor to AEPOC in December 2012.
Davies, who also chairs AAPA’s intelligence and enforcement committee, said: “AAPA is now a strong alliance with members working effectively to fight the common threat of audiovisual piracy. However, the war against piracy is unrelenting. Much more needs to be done and I look forward to working with Mark and other AAPA members to drive AAPA forward. On behalf of all AAPA members, we would like to express our thanks to both Christine and Mike for their outstanding contributions leading AAPA over the last five very productive years. We are well positioned for the future”.
Commenting on his appointment, Mulready said: “collaboration is essential if we are to beat the pirates and I am pleased to take on this role together with Phill. AAPA provides a platform for knowledge and information sharing and operational co-operation between its Members and with external stakeholders such as EUROPOL, INTERPOL and the EUIPO, as well as other industry groups. We will build upon the achievements of AAPA and, with members’ support, deliver AAPA’s many activities”.
