Hispasat has posted revenues of €228.9 million for 2016, a 4.2% increase on the previous year.
Revenues from space capacity increased by 4.2% to €225.5 million, while by geographic 35.4% of revenues from leasing space capacity came from Europe and North Africa and 64.6% from North and South America.
Hispasat invested €167.8 million in 2016, mostly on the ongoing satellite programmes Hispasat 36W-1, Amazonas 5 and Hispasat 30W-6.
The company’s consolidated operating profit amounted to €99.9 million (+8.1%) and EBITDA €175.7 million (-1.8%).
Although net profit in compared terms would have been €79.1 million (+33.4%), extraordinary expenses and the adverse situation of Hisdesat drove it down to €25.1 million (-59.9%).
Commenting on the results, Elena Pisonero, president of Hispasat, said: “2016 was a very intense year in which the company faced several challenges and unexpected situations but, even so, we were able to overcome them positively and keep growing our revenue. Despite the complicated situation in the satellite market, Hispasat continues to be one of the most profitable and efficient operators in the sector. We continue to work on our strategic growth path as we focus on developing our satellite projects, which will become a reality in 2017, applying innovation in the search for new solutions and products, and offering the best telecommunication services to our clients”.
