The collapse of Mediaset’s sale of its Mediaset Premium pay-TV division will cost the Italian media concern €100 million.
A bid for Mediaset Premium, Mediaset’s DTT pay platform, was initially made in April but collapsed in August leading Mediaset to file suit against Vivendi for allegedly pulling out of the deal.
Pier Silvio Berlusconi told Reuters the amount related to a number of factors including the ability to close commercial deals following the agreement’s collapse.
In January, Mediaset said it was now prepared to take content from third parties, a strategy that it believes will bring in an additional €200 million to Mediaset Italy’s operating margins.
