Munich-based cable operator Kabel & Medien Service (KMS) will expand its digital TV and internet offer and, in return, reduce the number of analogue TV channels on its network.
From April 5, 2017, the analogue carriage of BBC World, Bloomberg TV Europe, RBB Brandenburg, SWR Fernsehen BW, hr-fernsehen, MDR Fernsehen and WDR Fernsehen will be terminated in favour of digital-only distribution. The signals will be unencrypted. Furthermore, some channels will move to new slots.
Through the changes, KMS, part of Tele Columbus group and also known under its brand Cablesurf, will be able to offer its around 280,000 connected households high-speed internet access with up to 400Mbps from April 19, 2017.
The new, Ultra HD-capable multiscreen platform AdvanceTV will be introduced in the second half of 2017. Sister companies Tele Columbus and Primacom implemented AdvanceTV on their networks in January 2017.
KMS informs its customers about the upcoming changes on a special website.
