Palo Alto-based Wurl TV has announced that Wurl’s internet-delivered programming is now available on TiVo’s cable TV and retail set-top boxes.
For TiVo viewers, the Wurl TV network adds programming from digital studios, including new channels such as IGN TV, Newsy, Baeble Music TV, the ALT Channel, FNL Fashion and others. For cable operators, Wurl provides a new programming alternative to traditional cable networks.
New internet-based video services such as Wurl are revolutionising the TV viewing experience. While apps such as Netflix, Hulu and YouTube have brought new internet-delivered on-demand programming to cable TV viewers, Wurl has added internet-delivered “linear” channels. Wurl TV viewers can enjoy both linear channels and an unprecedented choice of on-demand apps.
“This collaboration with an industry pioneer like TiVo enables us to bring Wurl TV’s programming and powerful viewing platform to millions of TiVo households around the world,” said Sean Doherty, Wurl’s CEO and founder.
