New role for EBU’s Philippot

EBU president Jean Paul Philippot has been appointed as a member of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) multistakeholder advisory group.

In a statement, the EBU says that Philippot has been invited to represent the media community on this UN advisory board, alongside representatives of governments, civil society, the private sector and technical community.

It adds that the main task of the advisory group is to provide advice on preparations for the 12th meeting of the IGF, scheduled to take place in Geneva in December 2017.

It is a return to the city where the discussions on internet governance began in 2003 with the first World Summit on the Information Society and provides the opportunity to put the spotlight on problems of media in the current digital transformation.
