Ingrid Deltenre has resigned as EBU DG and will step down from her role in the summer.
Commenting on her departure, she said: “It has been a privilege to lead the EBU over the last eight years. With Public Service Media across Europe under increasing pressure from political and economic forces, I believe the role of the EBU and its work in upholding the values of public service media has never been more critical.
“Thanks to the wonderful team at the EBU, the organisation continues to go from strength to strength – providing invaluable support and advice to Members; playing a key role in so many major sporting events and offering essential business services to customers across the globe.”
Deltenre will be leaving to focus her attention on her board responsibilities at Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, Givaudan and Deutsche Post/DHL.
EBU president Jean-Paul Phillipot said: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Ingrid for her excellent work and numerous achievements during her tenure.
“Under her leadership, the EBU has substantially evolved as an organisation, which is now better placed to support Members in confronting the challenges facing PSM within a global digital media environment. Her perseverance, dedication and energy will be missed and we thank her for having made the EBU a much more dynamic organisation.”
The EBU has launched the search to find a successor and hopes to make an appointment by the summer.
