German media company ProSiebenSat.1 will close down its personalised music video service Ampya on March 1, 2017.
The move will affect both the web portal and the smart TV, HbbTV and mobile apps. The users are informed about the decision on Ampya’s website.
However, ProSiebenSat.1 doesn’t intend to scrap the brand completely. “Ampya will still stand for music and artists in future. We are eagerly working on a new service which will become available at Ampya.com in March,” according to an announcement on the website.
Ampya (pronounced “Empire”) launched in June 2013, promising users a music video service adapting to their personal taste and enabling them to compile an individual programme customised to their preferences. The free service was ad-supported.
In May 2015, ProSiebenSat.1 purchased competitor Putpat.tv and merged it with Ampya in September 2015.
