The French broadcasting group Canal+ is renaming its free-to-air new channel iTélé into CNews on Februaru 27.
The channel is broadcast over the nations’ digital terrestrial network TNT. The name change was already announced some time ago, but is now finally taking place.
The news channel will compete with the news channels from private broadcasters BFM and BFM Business from NextRadioGroup and LCI from TF1, as well is public news channel France Info.
The French government also sponsors the international news channel France24, which is available on most TV distribution platforms as well as on DTT in the greater Paris area.
