The Slovenian Competition Protection Agency has initiated proceedings against Pro Plus, the country’s largest broadcaster, for abusing its dominant market position.
According to Primorske, the move follows the recent withdrawal of the channels Pop TV and Kanal A from the DTT offer.
It adds that up until January 16 Pop TV and Kanal A, the most viewed services in Slovenia, were offered for free to distributors in a package that also included Pro Plus’s thematic channels Brio, Oto and Kino.
However, the price being charged for the package for a transitional period of one year from January 16 was almost four times higher than before that date.
Pro Plus, which is owned by CME, signaled last autumn that it would no longer broadcast Pop TV and Kanal A terrestrially from January 16 this year.
