Both subscriber numbers and revenues fell for Canal Digital in the last three months of 2016.
The Telenor Broadcast company saw subscribers erode to 862,000 households in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, from 897,000 at the same point in 2015.
At the same time monthly ARPU, which has previously increased through hardware sales and price rises, fell back by two per cent to NOK 382.
Fourth quarter profits at Canal Digital slipped from NOK 182 million to NOK 122 million.
It follows changes to the broadcaster’s sports offer.
A glimmer of hope is the IPTV business that has helped compensate for losses in DTH subs.
Meanwhile, Revenues in Telenor Satellite decreased by 9% primarily due to price
pressure in the data communication market and the termination of a satellite uplink contract in Q4 2015.
