The Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus is to begin broadcasting in the far east of the country.
In a statement, it says that the decision to do so was taken by its management and approved by the board of directors.
Sales in the region will begin this April and as a result of the expansion its services will then be available throughout the whole of Russia.
NTV-Plus secured the right to broadcast in the far east of Russia on January 25, when the results of a competition held by the Federal Tender Commission (FTC) were announced.
It will employ eight transponders on the Express-AT2 satellite, which is located at 140 degrees East and covers the entire region.
The FTC also granted NTV-Plus permission to use three additional transponders on the Express-AT1 satellite at 56 degrees East, thereby improving its coverage of Siberia.
NTV-Plus is one of the longest established DTH platforms in Central and Eastern Europe, having made its debut in 1996.
