The number of FTTH lines in Spain increased by 1.8 million in the year to November 2016, while the number of DSL lines fell by 1.4 million over the same period.
Moreover, according to data produced by the regulator CNMC, the number of FTTH lines increased by almost 150,000 in November 2016 alone.
Movistar was the undisputed market leader in the fixed broadband sector in November, with a share of 42.94%.
It was followed by Orange (28.85%) and Vodafone (22.85%), with remaining providers claiming 5.37%.
However, Orange gained the most new fixed broadband customers in the month (24,000), followed by Vodafone (19,900), while Movistar lost 1,500.
