The Polish national transmission company EmiTel has ruled out foul play, at least for now, as a possible cause of last month’s blackout at the public broadcaster TVP.
Speaking in a press conference, the company’s representatives said that the problems were caused by a technical failure and for the moment the actions of third parties, including a cyber attack and physical interference in broadcasting devices, both in facilities belonging to TVP and EmiTel’s broadcasting infrastructure, could be ruled out.
What was important was that by the time the Polish PM Beata Szydlo broadcast a message, the network had been almost completely stabilised, with reception difficulties being experienced by only 1.3% of viewers.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, the blackout began on December 17 and in some locations continued for at least two days.
