German commercial sports broadcaster Sport1 has launched a new HbbTV service offering additional content accompanying its TV programmes.
Through the red button on the remote control, viewers can access videos from 10 categories, for example football clips from the Bundesliga, Primera Division, Serie A, Ligue 1 and UEFA Europa League, highlights from football discussion show Doppelpass or complete episodes of documentary series Die PS-Profis – mehr Power aus dem Pott and Hamburger Autoperlen.
The precondition is a smart TV set suitable for multimedia standard HbbTV. This is the case with more than 90% of all new TV sets.
The service is free of charge and financed by advertising. Through addressable TV solutions, clients can place interactive and personalised advertising for individual target groups.
