The DTH platform freeSAT, which is operated by UPC DTH, plans to complete the transition to MPEG-4 this year.
In a statement, it says that the process, which began in 2016, will allow it to offer customers better services and provide capacity for additional HD channels.
However, much of the statement summarises the platform’s activities in the Czech Republic in 2016.
The highlights included the addition of eight more HD channels to its line up.
The platform also added to its growing list of mobile applications, which now include Stingray Music and FilmBox Live, and offered free previews of such channels as AXN, HBO and FilmBox for a total of 68 days in 2016.
