Travel Channel role for Wojciechowska

January 18, 2017 07.51 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Martyna Wojciechowska has been appointed the programme director at Travel Channel in Poland.

In her new role, she will be responsible for programme strategy and the long-term development of the channel. Travel Channel, which belongs to Scripps Networks Interactive, is part of the TVN Group portfolio, with the latter being responsible for its distribution, ad sales and technical operation.

Commenting on the appointment, Maciej Maciejowsli, member of the management board & business development and new media division director, said: “It’s hard to imagine a person better suited for this role. Martyna Wojciechowska is one of Poland’s major television personalities and a celebrated globetrotter. Her far-reaching experience in leading travel editorials, together with TVN’s prime quality, guarantees the channel’s success. I am confident that Travel Channel’s programming, including Martyna’s own show Martyna Wojciechowska presents will tickle the fancy of our viewers”.

Wojciechowska, who has been with TVN since 1998 and created one of the most popular travel shows in Poland today, added: “I’m embarking on a new, fascinating journey. I am excited to translate my experience in the field of expeditions and running travel editorials into the language of television, as the head of Travel Channel. Ten years after I stepped in as the editor-in-chief of National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler magazines, I decided to focus completely on the production of documentary films and programmes.

“Travel Channel is currently one of the leading travel networks in the world, and it is going to become a source of inspiration for Polish viewers. We want to encourage them, show them amazing places and different cultures. We are already working on our autumn line-up. I’m also taking our viewers to the very edges of the world with the ninth season of my show. I feel that this is going to be a very special year, full of challenges and of hard work. Just like before every expedition, I’m looking forward to the new experiences and meetings with fascinating people. After all, travelling is my great passion.”
