DVB-T2 certification progresses in Czech Republic

January 12, 2017 09.43 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech national transmission company Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRa) has approved nearly 600 models for DVB-T2 reception since September 2016.

In a statement, it says that most are TVs with built-in tuners, though the number also includes set-top boxes, and they represent virtually all the major brands available in the Czech Republic.

The CRa adds that 24-inch TVs with DVB-T2 certification can be bought in stores for as little as CZK3,500 (€129.5) and that there was increased interest in them over the Christmas period.

However, according to a study by Digimonitor undertaken for the CRa, most viewers are buying 101-128cm sets costing around CZK10,000.
